Professional Skincare Trends & Predictions for 2020

In 2019 we saw the rise of trends like CBD & hemp-based skincare products in many countries, personalised skin & beauty, clay masks, butt & breast scrubs & masks, liquid exfoliators & sustainable / conscious beauty.

In 2020 we expect to see more of the below trends & innovations amplified.

Lifting & Sculpting treatments with hands & technology

As we see less heavy contouring in makeup trends and more of the healthy, natural skin look manifested in different ways I believe there is more respect for the canvas that is the skin & face shape. There are more and more clinics globally offering face sculpting massage combined with technologies, we expect this consumer demand to increase in 2020.

Probiotics in Skincare

Just like the microbiome in our gut that we know is so important for our skin, the microbiome of our skin contains bacteria, fungi & viruses that influence the physiological appearance. Influencing the skin’s microbiome internally & also topically is an innovation that you can expect to see a lot more of in 2020.

Electrolytes in Skincare

If you are an EverlySkin partner you are already ahead of the pack and well versed in the innovative electrolyte technology for the skin.

When there is a lack of water/hydration within the skin there is also less inter-cellular communication which makes all cellular processes less efficient.  The skin cannot properly absorb or retain water without the proper balance of electrolytes.

EverlySkin uses a key infusion of electrolytes such as Potassium, Magnesium, Sodium, Chloride, Phosphorous, Bicarbonate & Sodium Pyrophosphate.

You can find this electrolyte infused technology in the entire EverlySkin Hydrolized jelly range.

Retail market brands like Drunk Elephant have recently followed suit with their latest F Balm Electrolyte Water Facial.

Beauty with a Conscience

Consumers are more knowledgeable about what they are putting into their bodies and onto their skin than ever before.  Not only do they know what they don’t want in their skincare like parabens, phthalates, SLS, PEGs, Mineral oils, etc they are also more thoughtful about how the products are produced, the origin of the ingredients & whether they are cruelty free.

Is your professional skincare brand cruelty free?

Mineral SPF & Environmental Protectants

As a skincare professional I’m sure you are already delighted with the number of memes floating around social media about the importance of SPF & Sun protection, in 2020 you can expect to see the rise of mineral / zinc oxide / titanium dioxide based SPF 30 being chosen over chemical options with higher sun protection factor.

You will also see more skincare lines introducing & emphasising protection from other environmental factors like blue light pollution.

Ampoules

Ampoules are single use, highly concentrated serums generally contained in sealed glass vials. The benefit to your client is that potency is preserved for every single dose, achieving better results.

Whilst they are not new to the skincare industry they are making a comeback in popularity, they can be found in almost all pharmacies in Europe and even mass market brands like L’oreal Paris have jumped on this trend and are scheduled to expand their ampoule range in March 2020.
